Good Friday and Easter 2026
This sculptural artwork incorporates floral design, fabric, and woodwork to enhance the worship experience by providing a visual aid for reflection on the evolving emotions experienced by those closest to Jesus from Good Friday through Easter.
Created by our arts team, the piece invites congregants to reflect on the somberness of Christ’s death. When viewing the veiled cross, the hope of the resurrection has not yet been revealed, creating a stark contrast to the joy of Easter morning. The covered cross evokes the grief, uncertainty, and sorrow of those who witnessed Christ’s death.
On Easter, the cross is transformed with flowers and grasses, bursting forth with new life. This imagery invites us to reflect on the garden, where life emerged from the tomb, and to remember the future hope we have in the coming resurrection. Through these changing elements, the artwork guides us from mourning to hope, reminding us of the promise of new life found in Christ.
